Sandfly Creek

This 2km walk takes you along the banks of the Pioneer River to the beach front at Iluka Park, comprising four viewing platforms along the way was a challenge to say the least. With no room along the levy bank to turn vehicles around, concrete trucks were backed in up to 1km to pour the 500+m3 needed. In true Dig-It style we were able to produce some interesting concrete patterns and creative timber decks and structures, using old wharf timbers along the way from Mackay's original port, providing an interesting back drop to the well used trail.
